WHAT TO EXPECT
It’s very common for children and families to feel nervous about starting therapy and connecting with a new therapist. To put your mind at ease, here are a few things you should know:
Sessions are confidential to allow families to share freely in a non-judgmental environment.
The initial intake is completed with the parent or caregiver without their child present to allow for all concerns to be shared openly. The end of the intake discusses treatment recommendations so that you can decide if the approach is the correct fit for your family.
Sessions are 50 minutes in length. The remaining 10 minutes include time for scheduling the following appointment and administrative duties.
Goals for therapy are set collaboratively between the therapist, the child and the parent. Progress in therapy should progress at a pace that you are comfortable with, towards goals that are meaningful and reasonable to you.
As a part of therapy, I will give you and your child activities to complete in between sessions in order to help practice skills learned in therapy.
This refelects our current fees as of February 1st 2022:

I have a limited number of sliding scale openings that I can offer to families in need. Feel free to reach out and find out what options might be available for you.
Every consultation package I offer is unique and tailored for your families needs and the other agencies and individuals involved. Because of this fees for consultative services vary significantly. If you are a current client we can arrange a plan best suited to you families needs, however if you are new to our services please feel free to set up an initial intake and we can discuss consultative services during the treatment recommendations discussion.
Payment can be made via cash, cheque, e-transfer and credit card via our invoicing services. Please note that fees are due at the end of the session, regardless of method of payment.
Therapy is not covered by OHIP, however you may have coverage with an extended health plan through insurance or benefits. Please check your plan to determine whether services by a Registered Social Worker (RSW) are covered fully or partially. For individuals with insurance and private benefits I will provide a receipt with my registration number that can you can submit for reimbursement. As well, since 2012 services provided by an RSW can be claimed as a medical expense and are a tax deduction.
As with many other professional services, you may cancel or reschedule your appointment with 24 hours notice via phone or email. Cancellations with short notice or missed appointments without notice will be billed at full fee (with cancellations due to emergencies excepted).
